High Five For Friday

Here's another edition of H54F. This week was a slow one in regards to exciting things going on so I only have four things, but it was also extremely busy in the sense that I felt I didn't get anything done. As always I'm linking up with Lauren.

1. Last Friday I got the amazing surprise of being promoted at my job. I've been wanting to move within the company for over a year now. I'd had enough of being a receptionist and wanted to show off my skills in another position in my company. So starting the first week of August I will be a coordinator for MicroAge.

2. Sunday Richard and I went for some sushi dinner followed by Man of Steel with our friends Heather and Kevin. I loved the movie, and you can read all about Richard's thoughts on the movie here.

3.Tuesday night we got to see my niece Valerie graduate elementary school. She looked beautiful and I'm so glad I got to be a part of her big day.

4. I baked a red velvet cake this week with butter cream icing. I use to bake cakes and cupcakes all the time, something I know Richard misses. The mix came from Bulk Barn. I had no idea they did cake mix there. I call this a WIN!

Hope your week was a good one too. This weekend is a long one because of Canada Day on Monday. I am so looking forward to a 3 day weekend. Will you be celebrating Canada Day?

HIGH FIVE FOR FRIDAY

Linking up with Lauren for this weeks H54F. This week was a busy one filled with parties, celebrating Father's Day, and new hair cuts.

Last Friday I celebrated my BFF Hillary's 25th Birthday. We had a lot to drink and I'm very surprised I handled it as well as I did, but I'm a trooper like that.

On Sunday we went over to Richard's parents house to celebrate Father's Day. We had a lovely pasta dinner and I was able to get this really pretty photo of Richard and his family.

On Tuesday an Ice Cream Truck came by our office and a few of us heard the tell tale music. TOTALLY made my day.

Tuesday Night I finally got my boring hair cut with some nice layers. I'm really trying to grow it out and make it healthy looking, which means getting it cut every 6-8 weeks. I'm also pretty proud of myself because I have dyed my hair and over a year, so I'm really happy the ombre look is still in.

Yesterday we had our Social Committee event which was a big success. We got a lot of compliments on everything and it was a lot of fun but very tiring. You can read all about the event later today!

Also I'm super pleased with my photo apps on my phone. I am currently using InstaCollage and A Beautiful Mess to edit all my camera photos.

High Five For Fridays

So this week was a very busy one filled with girl nights, parties, seeing old friends, and enjoying the little things. As always I'm linking up with Lauren for my H54F.

1. Last Friday I finally got together with some of my old work buddies for a girls night. I haven't seen them since I think March or February, so it was a great night to catch up with everyone. We played Head Shot and made total asses of ourselves.

2. On Saturday I finally got to see this pretty face for the first time in I think 3 years. I talked about her blog before, so check it out here.

 3. I had another girls night on Saturday with my sister, my BFF Hillary, and our two friends Mara and Shavon. I learned a new game 'Cards Against Humanity'

4. Sunday was my sister-in-law's baby shower. It was a great party and Rachele and my brother Matthew were spoiled rotten with gifts for their first baby. See more pictures here!

5. I'm going to be a little vain here and post a picture of myself looking pretty. I'm slowly trying new things and two of them were: 1. Trying red lips! 2. Getting new sunglasses with a pop of colour! I know it's nothing extravagant but I'm getting there.

High Five For Friday or should I say High Four For Friday!

This week was me basically getting back into the swing of things after my Staycation at home with the Hubs. Unfortunately I've been super grumpy this week and not really in the mood to do to much so this H54F week is one HIGH short. As always with these posts I'm linking up with Lauren

If you follow my Instagram @pvaughan86 you will notice that on Sunday I went to Canada's Wonderland with Richard and our nephew and niece. My sister was awesome enough to make us a delicious packed lunch for the day which saved us a ton of money cause Wonderland tends to jack up their food prices like its nobody's business. Then to top it off  she made us dinner when we dropped the kids off, which is always appreciated as I dislike cooking.

After Wonderland I came home and was in desperate need of a little ME time. This included a nice bath with my new bath salts, a glass of wine, and a new book. Well one glass of wine became four and a half glasses of wine and for a girl who can't hold her liquor that was probably two and a half glasses to many.
So now we got into super tipsy on your way to full out drunk Paula. Which if I do say so myself can be quite a hoot! This ended with some very hilarious drunk texting to Richard who was only in the next room of the Condo, and finished off with a solo dance routine of me on the bed to Beyonce's Single Ladies.

So I have a love for stationary. I don't know what it is but I've always loved buying journals with a pretty and girly design. I also have a crazy thing about Post-It Notes. I love the tropical colours selection they have then sometimes I will go crazy and get them in cool designs like star shapes or hearts or flowers.
So this time I went all out for my blogging journal and bought new sticky notes and a journal and these really awesome sharpie fine tip pens, in eight count them EIGHT fun colours!! The best part about these pens is they don't bleed through your pages. If you've ever used Sharpies before you know that they have a nasty habit of bleeding through the pages and leaving blotching spots all over the next couple pages, but not these bad boys. Super excited to use them.

And finally I got to watch Silver Linings Playbook with my cousin Michael. We have been planning on watching this movie together since it was in theaters but never got around to it. Then I found it at Costco on blue ray and bought it but it's been a couple of weeks for Mike and I to get together and sit down and actually watch it. We both enjoyed it as it and I can totally see why Jennifer Lawrence won the Oscar for Best Actress. I love Jennifer Lawrence but then again how can you not love her? The movie had a lot of WTF moments and laugh out loud moments. Bradley Cooper as always was great in it too. To be honest the whole cast was great, writing was well done and the story was lovely. I have the book but I have yet to read it. So I want to get started on that next. Maybe at the beginning of next week I will start on it.

Richard and I are taking another vacation this weekend to Ottawa to see a Halloween Carnival. A week of vacation wasn't enough for us so we needed one more. I know its crazy for a Halloween themed carnival to be happening in June but there you have it. We are renting a hotel for the night and also rented a car for the drive up as I don't trust my car to make that long of a trip back and forth. From where we live its a four hour drive and I worry that Sookie (yep I named my car that) will break down in the middle of the trip.

Also I start my 30 day squat and ab challenge Saturday so wish me luck, cause it's gonna be a beotch.

Do any of you have anything special planned this weekend?

HIGH FIVE FOR FRIDAY!!!

Happy Friday!!! What a great week this has been. Richard and I both took the week off as vacation and with the long weekend because of Victoria Day on Monday its been super relaxing and loads of fun. I actually forgot what day it was yesterday thinking it was Saturday when it was actually Thursday. Richard and I have packed in a lot of day trips in and around the GTAA instead of going anywhere for a couple of days, and I'm actually glad we did it this way. I didn't get done as many things around the Condo as I wanted to but no worries, I can try and tackle those things again next week.

Well it's been a while since I did one of these posts but I'm trying to start back up again, so here is my H54F and I'm linking up with Lauren over at Lauren Elizabeth

1. I celebrated my Birthday with my family a day early on Sunday. My sister Karen hosted a BBQ for me with a Bonfire at night including roasting marshmallows. It was so much fun and exactly what I wanted. Plus I got the BEST cake EVER!!! Look at how amazing that thing is.

2. I celebrated my actual Birthday on May 20th, with Richard and our old roommate Janine in my second favourite place Niagara Falls. We did a lot of stuff on Clifton Hill including the Bird Sanctuary  Ripley's Believe It or Not, took in a Haunted House or two, and watched the fireworks over the falls. Not everyone can say they get to have fireworks on their birthday...but this chick does. *points to myself*

3. I headed back to the gym for the first time in over three weeks and the gym totally kicked my ass. My gym buddy and I have decided to start a 30 day squat and ab challenge, but are going to wait until June 1st to get our bodies back into the habit of going to the gym 3-4 times a week again.

4. Richard and I took in the Toronto Science Center on Wednesday and it made me feel like a kid again.

5. Last Saturday a bunch of us went and saw the new Star Trek movie which we all thought was fantastic. So much pretty was on the big screen at once, the movie nerd in me was having a heart attack.

How was your week? Do anything fun and interesting?

High Five for Friday- Round Two

Hello, so here is the second edition to my HF4F. I'm linking up with Lauren once again. Well this week was kind of a drag. Nothing super crazy was happening in my life but, I did manage to find five things that were sort of exciting. Again no pictures but I swear I will learn to post them.

1. Last Friday my sister Karen and her family came by for a swim. We introduced my nephew and niece to Red Letter Media and the Plinket reviews on Star Wars. We really need to finish those with them. They make up for the crap that episode 1-3 was.

2. On Saturday I went and got my licence renewed and finally after 1 year and 5 months of marriage I finally changed my name. I am officially Paula Michelle Vaughan. I really felt that needed to be in Bold. Here's hoping my picture came out nice. I always thought that for some reason you couldn't smile in your photo, so me with my permanent frown always looked horrible. Not this time though I smiled and put on makeup, the whole nine yards. (I've never gotten the reference before. Are there 9 yards on a football field?). Point is I will either look good or look like a street hooker. If its the latter then I may change my line of work. (hahaha) However I now have to wait 4 weeks before I get it and see what the end result is. Maybe I will show the before and after once I get it in the mail, especially if it looks bad. I may as well laugh at myself a little, and share it with the world.

3. I started painting the trim and the doors last weekend. No one would ever notice the difference to the trim I'm sure, but I notice it and LOVE it. Once I'm done the trims and doors it will be extremely dramatic. I'm going with super white trim, dark brown doors and the handles and hinges are being spray painted black. (Pictures to follow)

4. I created my own Chocolate Chip Cookie cupcakes. Yep its a totally new invention that I came up with I swear. OK probably not. Really I just made cookies but put them in the cupcake baking pan. The point is they came out delicious and Richard eats them like crazy. Last night I made another dozen for the 3rd time.

5. Shavon came over yesterday and we both went to the gym together. She's way stronger then I am so she can handle a lot more then me but shes a good motivator and pushes me to try harder. I'm going by her work tomorrow to check out new running shoes for Richard and I and to look into some new work out clothes. Our next gym workout it Monday, which is awesome. We are going to try and keep each other on track and motivated. Its nice to have a gym buddy again. :) Looking forward to getting Richard down there as well.

Well that's it for me. I have so many things planned for this weekend, some of which may not even happen. I tend to make long lists of things that need to do and then only half of them ever get done. Tonight I'm out with some of my old work buddies from when I worked at M-O. Tomorrow I have to get a new health card, go to sportschek, pick Richard up from work and get our taxes done, and go grocery shopping. Then on Sunday I have a day/night date planned for Richard and I. Should be exciting!

High Five for Friday

Happy Friday people. I've never been more excited for the end of the work day. I'm wanting to start on some projects I have lined up at the Condo and I'm looking forward to doing them. Also today is the first day where I get to have an hour lunch. I've been doing 30 min lunches for the last week and a half to make up time from when I was off sick.

This post is the first time I'm linking up with another blog. I follow a few blogs that do this thing where the pick 5 things that happened to them in the week and talk about it. I'm linking up with the lovely Lauren who I believe started this.

Sorry for the lack of photos. The blogs usually add photos for every number.
I really need to document more.

1. Last Friday my eldest Brother Andrew and my sister in law Christine added a new addition to our family. My new niece arrived on February 22nd. Callie Jennifer Bowman. I don't have pictures yet but I look forward to them when I get them. This now makes 3 nephews and 3 nieces on the Bowman side of the family.

2. My friend Ekaterina made me lovely banana bread on the weekend, cause she knows it's my favourite. She also knows I don't know how to make it myself. I may or may not have eaten the whole loaf in 2 days....Shameful but I totally did. Don't judge me. I will say that if she makes it again I will try my hardest to make it last longer. She even put in chocolate chips, seriously how was I suppose to not devour that thing. I have zero will power clearly.

3. I've been following Kate over at the The Small Things Blog and I tried out when of her hair tutorials. I first saw her stuff on Pinterest and then from there found her site. Turns out she is actually the sister of Lauren who started the HF4F. The tutorial I tried was a simple one, curling your hair with a curling iron. But she started by curling the hair at the scalp instead of at the end of your hair, which I've never done before. My hair came out really well, and I received a lot compliments about it at work. Richard really liked it too, but then he loves curly hair.

4. Earlier in the month I found out how to post a photo on Pinterest, turns out its super easy. So I posted a picture about my Shadow Box Tutorial. Since then I have received over a 100 views on that tutorial alone. Makes me happy that people saw it and might use it themselves.

5. And finally now that I am not feeling sick anymore I am headed back to the gym. Richard has even said he will join me once he gets over the head cold he has, which he caught from me. :( This does mean we need to pick up some gym accessories like running shoes. Mine are completely ruined and falling apart and Richard doesn't even own any. I have my heart set on a pair from Sportschek and they are having a sale Buy 1 get 2 half off. :) I want to get a decent pair because the ones I get from Walmart never last. I figure if I spend a bit more money on good pairs it will be worth it.

Well thats all from me here. Happy Weekend Everyone.
