Crocheting Projects and Surprise Engagements!

Back in November I asked one of my friends to teach me how to crochet a blanket as I wanted to make one for each one of my siblings. I knew I wanted to start with my brother Matthew because I knew he and his girlfriend would appreciate it the most. I picked a multicoloured yarn with a purple and green shade to it. The blanket itself was pretty easy to make as it was extremely repetitive, but I did come into some issues when I first started it. I kept skipping a step which made the first 6 lines look a little wonky. After that it was easy but took forever to do. Each line had 200 stitches to it which took 30 minutes to complete. Overall it took me just over a month and a half to make, and was 60” x 69” big. I only took one picture of it and unfortunately its not the best. The picture took on a yellow hue but where it looks yellow the yarn was actually a light grey.

I used a double stitch for this blanket.

I wanted to finish the blanket for Rachele's 30th Birthday which was last Saturday and luckily I completed it in time. She opened it at the party and absolutely LOVED it which made all that hard work worth it. It's become an addictive hobby so I started my own blanket. I'm using one overall colour but I'm using two different stitches. 4 lines of a double stitch and 2 of what I call a chunky stitch because I have no idea what the actual name of the stitch is. Since this one is mine I have been taking my time with it and working on it whenever I want.

Pretty Garnet Blanket. Reminds me of Fall.

Rachele's 30th Birthday party was awesome because my brother Matthew proposed to her in front of all her friends and family. She had absolutely no idea he was going to do it which made it so much better. They are super cute together and I'm so happy I will get to call her my sister one day. :)

This is my favourite picture of the proposal.
I love Rachele's Face.

And one that's a little lighter.
